Ride to Work Day on 16th July

Ride to Work Day on Wednesday 16th July is a day for all bike and scooter users to get out and about on their bikes and ride to work, ideally with a pillion.

Moving Forward supports safer motorcycling. In rural areas a key opportunity for encouraging a shift from travel by car lies with two-wheeled motor-vehicles, such as motorcycles, which can travel longer journey distances that may deter people from walking or cycling. Two-wheeled motor-vehicles are more fuel efficient than cars and take up less roadspace therefore causing less congestion, they take up less parking space and are often cheaper to buy than cars which is an asset for younger people.

More information on safer motorcycling can be found through Somerset's Road Safety Partnership website: http://www.roadsafetysomerset.org.uk/Motorcyclists.htm

National Motorcycling Week is arranged by the Motor Cycle Industry Association - http://www.mcia.co.uk/S_Public/SContent.asp?sc=X3
