Sign up for the Somerset Workplace Cycle Challenge!

Workers in Taunton and Bridgwater are being encouraged to sign up to a challenge that could see them win prizes for getting on their bikes.

The Somerset Workplace Cycle Challenge is a free, fun cycling challenge for businesses in Taunton and Bridgwater. It’s being run by Somerset County Council’s Moving Forward team and takes place between 22 June and 5 July 2009.

Teams will compete against other organisations, departments or teams of a similar size to see who can get the most staff to cycle during the challenge. Team members can cycle whenever and wherever they feel comfortable, for travel to work or for leisure.

The challenge provides an opportunity for people to get together with their colleagues and be in with the chance of winning some prizes along the way. Some of the prizes up for grabs include a Ridgeback bike worth over £500, cycle gear, cinema tickets and much more.

The challenge has been organised as part of Somerset County Council’s Moving Forward initiative, which encourages people to explore sustainable travel options, including cycling.
