Demand Responsive Transport

Demand Responsive Transport (DRT) is a great way to get to more rural or remote areas that are not served by a frequent bus service.

Slinky passengersDRT services are small bus services with a semi-flexible route operating within rural areas. They run to an outline timetable, allowing them to connect with mainline bus services or reach larger towns at a scheduled time, but with the flexibility to divert their route around neighbouring villages to pick up passengers as required. They can be used by anyone who does not have access to their own vehicle or suitable regular public transport.

There are different DRT services - called SLINKY or Nippy buses - operating in different parts of Somerset. These may have different conditions of service and different costs, so it is best to contact the relevant service for full details (see links on right). County tickets and English National Concessionary Passes are valid on DRT services.

You usually need to register in advance and need to book your journey around 24 hours in advance to make arrangements for the driver to pick you up. Many DRT services use wheelchair-accessible vehicles.

See the links on the right for information about the individual services.
