New briefing puts people before cars

How many times have you seen new developments plagued by cars parked on footways (pictured) with little emphasis given to people moving around as pedestrians including children and the elderly?

“Inclusive design for residential streets is about getting the basics right – clear accessible streets that support walking and encouraging social interaction between the whole community”, says the report.
