Pedestrianisation Proposals on Hold

Last year, Somerset County Council consulted with the public on proposals to pedestrianise North Street in Taunton - the first stage of any wider scheme. The consultation prompted over 500 responses, with many asking for plans to include more roads, including East Street.

The Council has decided not to go ahead at this time with the initial, experimental scheme for North Street. The key decision was made by Cllr Anthony Trollope-Bellew, Somerset County Council’s Cabinet Member Environment on Thursday 2nd September 2010.
