Moving Forward at Tour of Britain 2009

As part of European Mobility Week, the Moving Forward team is out and about. We will be at the Tour of Britain events, offering advice and information about your sustainable travel choices.

Frome

Somerset County Council’s Moving Forward team will be offering free bike servicing at the Frome Velo Jam event on Wednesday 16 September from 6 - 9pm. This event is taking place on the evening before Stage 6 of the race starts in the town on Thursday 17 September.

Priority for bike checks will go to those who are taking part in the Cobble Wobble bike race. Why not get your old bike out and give it a go? To take part in the Cobble Wobble, you must register in advance. Entry forms are available from Live 2 Ride at Badcox or by calling 01373 469590. To ensure your bike service slot, email movingforward@somerset.gov.uk in advance of the event.

Timing and exact location of the Moving Forward stand are TBC.

There’s lots more going on at the Velo Jam event. For full details of what’s happening in Frome, go to the Tour of Britain website

Yeovil

Somerset County Council’s Moving Forward team challenge you to pedal to keep our sound system going!

We’ve ditched electricity in favour of pedal power, but we need people to come along and get on our special bikes to keep the music going. Anyone who takes part will be given a Moving Forward cyclometer.

We’ll be down at Yeovil Town Football Club at Huish Park in Yeovil from around 10am onwards providing the build up to the end of the race and giving out information to help you to make more sustainable travel choices. The race is due to finish between 2 and 3 pm.
