Get down on Blackdown

A new series of cycling routes in the Blackdown Hills was launched on 5 September.

Members of the Taunton Tweeds Cycle Chic club hopped on their vintage bicycles to christen the route from Wellington to Hemyock.

The Blackdown Hills, on the Devon and Somerset border, offer excellent conditions for on-road cycling. The terrain ranges from challenging ascents to gentle countryside, with a network of quiet roads and superb views.

Blackdown Hills AONB manager Linda Bennett said:

"We're delighted to be launching these routes now, just before the Tour of Britain comes through the Blackdown Hills. The focus on cycling will help to give the Blackdowns due recognition as a top location for on-road rides in the South West".
