Driving lessons on motorways

Road Safety minister, Mike Penning, announced yesterday that learner drivers are to be allowed to take lessons on motorways before passing their driving test. The move has been introduced in an effort to cut the number of accidents and injuries caused by new drivers using motorways without prior experience or instruction.

Learner drivers on motorway lessons must be accompanied by fully qualified driving instructors. Motorway drivign will not form part of the formal driving test as not all areas of the UK have them.

The changes will come into effect from next year.
