Date Set for North East Bridgwater Planning Decision

A date has been set to decide the fate of a major planning application for a mixed-use development in Bridgwater, Somerset.

Members of the public are invited to attend a special planning committee as Sedgemoor District Council determines the granting of planning permission for a major new industrial and residential development of up to 2000 homes in Somerset.

Moving Forward has been working with the developers since January to develop a detailed travel plan for the area. Matters still under negotiation as reflected in the committee report include:

  • levels of parking for cycles, motorcycles and cars
  • proposed targets for how people will travel to and from the site
  • public transport and works bus services to support the development
  • cycle and pedestrian routes to and from the development

The developers have been encouraged to follow the Manual for Travel Plans approach developed by Somerset County Council to prepare a well thought-through and effective plan to manage levels of car traffic.

The Development Committee Meeting will be held on Wednesday 30 September 2009 in the Sedgemoor Room, Bridgwater House, King Square, Bridgwater at 2.30pm. This Meeting will be open to the public and press and you advised to visit Sedgemoor District Council's website to download their guidance notes for further information: www.sedgemoor.gov.uk/index.aspx?articleid=124
