Cyclist Mounts Floral Campaign Against Potholes

A cyclist has taken an unusual stand against the state of his local roads by planting flowers in potholes!

Cyclist Steve Wheen has been doing it to draw attention to the bad state of the roads in London, after nearly coming off his bike because of potholes on a number of occasions.

News of the ‘Pothole Gardener’ has been hitting the press over the last couple of weeks. Steve now has his own website www.thepotholegardener.com – which logs his pothole planting activities, with evidence in pictures!

On his website blog, Steve explained his reasons for the project:
“My neighbourhood has a distinct lack of green space; I’m a gardener with no garden. I want to spruce up my ‘hood, be it for just a few colorful moments. After almost falling over walking home with my shopping thanks to a well placed pothole, I’m making it my mission to highlight how bad our roads and footpaths are”.

Full information and pictures can be found on the Pothole Gardener website.
