Council Leader switches to cleaner fuel

Among the growing movement of people who are changing the way they travel to reduce their impact on the environment, the Leader of Somerset County Council, Cllr Ken Maddock, has converted his car to Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG).

LPG is widely accepted as a greener fuel. The air out of the exhaust is much cleaner than diesel. At the moment it costs around 50 pence a litre for LPG, making it easier on the wallet as well as on the environment.

Cllr Ken Maddock, Leader of Somerset County Council, said: “Somerset County Council is looking to save money and I’m no different. I converted my car to LPG as it’s a green fuel alternative and also, cheaper to run.

“Climate change is impacting on Somerset and we must all do our bit to reduce the impact on our environment. Using LPG as fuel for my car is an environmentally-friendly, cleaner and greener way to get around.”
