Cheaper Lorry Tolls Demanded

Freight Transport Association (FTA) has demanded cheaper access to Wales for HGVs.

Ian Gallagher from the FTA has stated, "A reduced rate for off-peak travel for commercial vehicles, for example – would engender greater benefits in terms of congestion, emissions and cost, and should certainly be considered in 2017 when the bridge is expected to be back in public ownership."

Mr Gallagher has said that over time price increases for general motorists have also been applied to lorries and these are hitting businesses hard. The FTA has made other recommendations including more flexible payments, which you can read further about on the South West Business website.
