    BT Sport Relief Million Pound Bike Ride

    Seven celebrities are cycling the length of the UK next week in a charity ride that will see them cycle through Somerset.

    The BT Sport Relief Million Pound Bike Ride event will see the celebs cycle 1,000 miles over four days. Starting on March 1st, the team will take turns to cycle non-stop across the UK to raise £1 million for Sport Relief.

    The ride starts at John O’Groats at 9am on Monday 1 March and is expected to finish at Lands End at around 4pm on Thursday 4 March.

    The ride is set to come through Somerset late on Wednesday 3 March and into the early hours of Thursday 4 March. The race will head down from Bristol towards Winscombe in Somerset, from there the cyclists will head towards Woolavington. They’ll then cycle 26 miles on to Wiveliscombe, before heading on towards Bampton and over the border into Devon.

    The team of celebrities taking part are David Walliams, Jimmy Carr, Fearne Cotton, Miranda Hart, Patrick Kielty, Davina McCall and Russell Howard.

    They’ve been training hard to prepare for the event that will see them take it in turns to cycle sections of the course, accompanied by a support rider. They’ll mainly be cycling on B roads and more rural routes, staying away from major routes with heavy traffic where possible.

    The race is all part of Sport Relief, which aims to get people across the whole of the UK will come together to get active, raise cash and change lives. All the money raised by the public is spent by Comic Relief to help transform the lives of poor and vulnerable people, both at home and across the world’s poorest countries.
