Helping Hand to Healthy Living

A new campaign to encourage people to kickstart a healthy lifestyle has been launched by the government. 'Change 4 Life' has been set up to try and beat rising levels of obesity by helping families to eat well, get more active and live longer.

Experts say that, without any intervention, by 2050 ninety per cent of today’s children will be overweight or obese and at risk of serious diseases like cancer, type 2 diabetes and heart disease.

The Change 4 Life campaign offers extensive support and information to help families, particularly children, live healthier lives through eating well and being more active.

The campaign ties in with Moving Forward’s promotion of more active ways to travel. A simple way to become healthier is to incorporate exercise into your daily routine. This could be walking to school or work instead of using the car, getting on your bike to make a quick trip to the shops, or even getting off the bus a stop earlier and walking the rest of the way. Small changes can make a big difference.
