Travelling to Further Education Colleges in Somerset

Transporting Somerset publish guides to buses which serve further education colleges in Somerset. These include Bridgwater College, Richard Huish College, Somerset College, Strode College and Yeovil College.  

Paying for Bus Travel - The County Ticket

The County Ticket and County Ticket Plus are discounted bus passes for students available from Somerset County Council. It can reduce the cost of your travel to school, college or 16+ Further Education College. For 2009/10 the price of the County Ticket is £500 and the County Ticket PLUS costs £610.00.

Both passes are valid for unlimited travel on Public Service Bus routes throughout Somerset and routes crossing into or out of Wiltshire, Dorset and Devon. The County Ticket Plus is also valid on services crossing into or out of North Somerset and Bath & North East Somerset. All journeys must either start or finish within Somerset.

To be able to get a County Ticket or a County Ticket Plus, you must be:

  • Attending school, college or a 16+ College of Further Education and the course you are attending must be funded by the Learning and Skills Council. The school, college or 16+ College of Further Education will be able to confirm this.
  • Or, you must be attending a 16+ College of Further Education as part of a Work Based Learning Course.  

To ensure your ticket is ready for you to use on 1 September 2010, you need to apply for the ticket by 1 August 2010.
