Cycling

Cycling is a cheap and fast way to travel around. It can be great for your health and fitness levels too and helps to cut traffic and pollution.

You don’t need specialist equipment to do it and you don’t have to get hot and sweaty for it to do you good.

Somerset County Council has produced a series of Walking and Cycling maps covering the 20 main towns in Somerset. The maps can help you to find a safe cycling route to and from your destination.

Why not use our Travel Change Calculator to work out how much money and CO2 you could save and calories you could burn by switching your journey to walking? The calculator shows how many chocolate bars per month and pizzas per year your journey adds up to. You can also see the equivalent amont of CO2 you could save per year in the form of balloons!

Many Further Education colleges offer a free bike Repair and Ride Scheme, supported by Somerset County Council. Find out if your college provides this, if it doesn't, please contact us and we'll set something up.
