Walk to Work Week is a national initiative run by the charity Living Streets to encourage people to make walking part of their daily routine, both to/from work and during the course of work, for example, going out for a stroll at lunchtimes or walking to local meetings.

Walk to Work Week
The benefits of walking are numerous, and include better health, reduced absenteeism, improved morale, lower stress, greater concentration and productivity.

Workplaces are being invited to sign up to take part in the week to compete against other organisations across Somerset to see who can get the most people walking and who can walk the furthest. There are chances to win prizes for those that take part to share as a team or win individually.

Take the chance to compete against other organisations to see who can get the most people walking and who can walk the furthest. Participants will be able to track how they do throughout the week and how they compare against their colleagues.

To get involved you need to register on the Walk to Work Week website. If your workplace is not yet signed up, speak to managers about getting involved and get them to sign your workplace up. There is lots of information about on the Walk to Work Week website and a toolkit to help you to encourage people to sign-up to take part.

We’re taking part here at Somerset County Council, so why not compete against us?!
