The South West will this year play host to two stages of the Tour of Britain cycling event, over two consecutive days.

Thursday 17 September 2009
Stage six of the Tour of Britain will start in the Mendip town of Frome. Riders will cover 187kms passing through the Somerset Levels, The Quantocks and Exmoor National Park, before finishing in the estuary town of Bideford on the North Devon coast.

Frome is holding a Velo Jam event the evening before the race starts (Weds 16 September). The Moving Forward team will be in attendance offering free bike maintenance checks and giving out sustainable travel information and advice.

Friday 18 September 2009
Stage seven will cover a further 159kms. Starting in the Devon market town of Hatherleigh, competitors will ride close to the edge of Dartmoor National Park. They will then race along the Devon Jurassic Coast and cross the river Axe, before pedalling over the finish line at Huish Park, the home of Yeovil Town Football Club in South Somerset.

The Moving Forward team will be at Huish Park from 10am onwards. We'll be challenging you to get on our special bikes to keep our sound system going by pedal power! Come along and have a go.
