Frome Velo Jam
To celebrate Stage 6 of the Tour of Britain starting in the town, Frome Velo Jam will take place on Wednesday, 16 September from 6 - 9PM, with events organised in and around the town centre.
The Moving Forward team will be there offering ree bike maintenance checks as well as providing local cycle maps and information about your sustainable travel options. Come along and see us!
There is plenty more going on at the Velo Jam to celebrate cycling in Frome, including:
- ROOK LANE CHAPEL - Dr Alex Moulton in conversation with TV cycling commentator David Duffield. Pioneer of the small wheeled bicycle revolution nearly 50 years ago, the Moulton bicycle has been developed and refined constantly ever since; now manufactured in Bradford-on-Avon. Free entry. 7.30PM.
- WESTWAY PRECINCT - Charity stalls incuding 'Help for Heroes' display of military vehicles.
- MARKET YARD CAR PARK - 'Charge Bikes' Track Stand Competition, winner wins the bike - 'Animal' Mountain Bike Stunt Team shows. 6:30PM. 7.45PM. 9PM. - Trade displays - cycle safety checks - Fireworks Finale 9PM.
- CHEESE AND GRAIN - Static Spinning Time Trial competition for everyone. Meet Dennis Talbot, 1952 European Madison Champion / rider World Championships 1953 - 55. Displays - Sustrans - City Cycle Guides.
- CATHERINE HILL 'COBBLE WOBBLE' - a come and try uphill time trial. 2 wheels, 1 hill, 6,000 cobbles - have you got the legs?!! First rider off 6.30PM. Start: Golden Goose, Stony Street. Finish: top Catherine Hill (Whittox Lane jnct). Riders have to pre register: entry forms from Live2ride at Badcox or call: 01373 469590.
- COBBLE WOBBLE ALE - Milk Street Brewery have brewed a new 'Cobble Wobble' ale especially for the event available in 'The Griffin', Milk Street; Cheese and Grain Bar and the Velo Beer Tent.
