Leave the car behind and try a different way to travel during European Mobility Week.

European Mobility Week exists to highlight the importance of tackling climate change and improving quality of life at a local level through the promotion of sustainable travel options such as cycling, walking, public transport and car sharing. It incorporates In Town Without My Car Day on Tuesday 22 September 2009.

Our current travel behaviour relies heavily on the use of fossil-fuelled private cars and is a major source of greenhouse gases. It also affects the ‘climates’ in our towns and cities, which suffer from traffic-generated air and noise pollution, death and injury on the roads, traffic congestion and a lack of public space and social cohesion.

Each of our travel habits contribute to these problems, and European Mobility Week is a good opportunity to try something which is an alternative to driving a car alone. We can improve the quality of life in our urban areas by travelling more sustainably.

So, why not try one of the following options?
