Community Transport

If like many, you think Community Transport is only provided for elderly or disabled people, think again. Anyone who can’t access public transport or who is without any suitable alternative transport to make their journey can use Community Transport services.
SLINKY
SLINKY is an accessible bus service funded through Somerset County Council; it provides a service to anyone who does not have access to their own vehicle or public transport. People who use SLINKY range from parents and toddlers, students and teenagers to the retired.

People use SLINKY for a variety of journeys such as getting to and from appointments, shopping, social events, commuting to and from work/college or attending clubs and evening classes. SLINKY can also be used to make links with other Public Transport.

Services are available Monday to Saturday (excluding Public Holidays) from around 6am to 10pm and currently operate in the following areas:

Chard
Ilminster
North Sedgemoor
Quantocks
Taunton
Wellington
West Sedgemoor
West Somerset
Wincanton

Fares start from £1 for a single journey. County Ticket and County Ticket Plus are valid for use on SLINKY services.

Journeys usually need to be booked at least 24 hours in advance. Booking lines are open 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 12 noon on Saturdays.
